P-P-Pick Up a Pill

Monday, January 24th, 2005

This is old news, but I only just read about it – MDMA or ecstasy can alleviate symptoms of Parkinsons Disease. It's an interesting first person account which prompts the question of how many other undiscovered benefits could be revealed by proper scientific research into recreational drugs. Draconian legislation and a taboo in the scientific community currently prevents such research from taking place. Read the rest of this entry »

Rugby on Wheels

Ever been to the funfair and wondered if dodgems would be a more fun if the aim of the ride was a bit more complex than just ramming into girls you fancy hoping that they'll notice you? Yes? Then Quad Rugby could be for you! Now the subject of a new movie, Murderball, the sport could be seeing a rise in popularity. Then again, I don't see everyone dropping their pints to play Shaolin football, and that looked like a really great idea too…

Deja Tango’d

Some things never go out of fashion, especially when they are as funny as slapping people in the face! Seems only yesterday that the Tango 'Orange Man' adverts were causing mayhem in British schools. Now they can record the moment for posterity.Kids these days are so lucky…

Greasy China

Now that cheap cocaine has become the new Stella Artois, it's harder and harder for bar owners to prevent its use on their premises. A nearby pub's policy of spraying lemon bleach onto porcelain surfaces gives snorters a nasty aftertaste but doesn't seem to deter them. In Bristol the Police recommend WD-40 lubricant because it interacts with the powder so it can't be hoovered through a 20 quid note. Won't the filthy chavs just gum it? It's not like they don't know what lube tastes like…

Radio Gaga

Our first ever radio show is being broadcast Sun 30th Jan. Tonight I will be editing it all together and adding the jingles and station idents. Until now, I thought all their shows were live, but it appears that the majority of them are recorded on CD and played out of a PC. So I guess a phone-in is out of the question… However, the station have also asked us to DJ live for a couple of hours during their 80 hour Fasnacht music marathon. I'm sure the listeners will be too pissed to notice who's playing, but for me it will be a welcome respite from piccolos and confetti! I'll try and get some recordings online once they've been broadcast. UPDATE: The 2nd half of the show is available for download as a low quality MP3. Please right click and Save As to save my bandwidth. Enjoy :)

Healthy Lifestyle…

Thursday, January 20th, 2005

After giving up cigarettes and alcohol for New Year, I was pleased by an apparently related healthy and energetic first couple of weeks to the month. It didn't last long. Read the rest of this entry »

Plaster provocative stickers and posters in Belgian towns and you get Cum in the streets, a nice little art project. Oddly, their stencil cover girl bears a striking resemblance to one of the barstaff at my local. Found via cuminthestreets' links section, the maddest navigation scheme I've seen in ages. Very Jannuzzi Smith!
